  I have never been treated so disrespectfully by a medical professional in my life. After two weeks of horrible abdominal pains and inability to take down any food or water without immense pain, I was referred by my GI specialist and the Aurora ER to Thomas Brand to manage pain while they continue to run diagnostics. In less than two weeks, I have lost 10lbs from inability to eat, my blood pressure continuously spikes to 160/110 and higher during abdominal cramps, and I have been completely unable to work. This man walks in the room, continuously cuts me off when I attempt to answer his questions, and then proceeds to tell me that, even though I have several diagnostic tests left and have already been diagnosed with a hiatal hernia, gastritis/esophagitis, and ulceration to the esophagus, that I am feigning illness. His implication reaches further to accuse me of seeking narcotics. I work in Veterinary Medicine, and the animals that come through our clinic are treated with more respect and empathy than I was treated with today. While I understand the culture of narcotic abuse that currently exists, I brought every piece of paperwork I have accumulated since this health issue began-- his nurse was told every single medication I currently have and every medication I have been prescribed. I have stayed in Aurora facilities so that all my medical records are immediately accessible for review by each physician I see. There were no secrets, as he alluded to there being when he thought he was dropping a bombshell discovery that I have received 36 5mg Norco over the course of two weeks to be taken at 2 tablets every four hours. It's unfortunate a medical doctor cannot do math. Apparently Thomas Brand should have been a DEA agent instead. After telling Thomas Brand that I am unable to tolerate Reglan (which is what he suggested we use to manage pain), a medication 20% of people are unable to tolerate, he outwardly accused me of faking my illness, opened the door, and gestured me out. Completely humiliated and ignored, I chose to exit the office. When my diagnosis comes to light, I will be reporting his shameful conduct and violation of his Hippocratic Oath to the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services. There was absolutely no excuse for the way this man conducted himself today. He should be ashamed of himself, and I advise finding a physician who is willing to treat your documented symptoms and illness rather than spending 5 minutes rolling his eyes through an evaluation and then making accusations of drug addiction to someone who has had no prescriptions for pain medication beyond the last two weeks in the year of 2017 and leading to 2016, when I was prescribed Vicodin for a broken foot. Truly a heinous experience. I will be writing a letter to Aurora next to inform them of my visit. Shame on him.
